About M.S.E LAVANGIA
My aim is to provide optimal foot and lower limb health care in a friendly, professional and comfortable environment.
Because diabetes is a chronic disease affecting many parts of the body, successful management requires a team approach. Our goal is to provide a comprehensive approach to foot care and lower limb health.Today’s podiatrist is an integral part of the holistic treatment team and has documented success in preventing amputations.
Statistics have shown that:
- More than 65,000 lower limbs are amputated annually due to complications from diabetes.
- After an amputation, the chance of another amputation within three to five years is as high as 50 percent.
Including a podiatrist in your diabetes care can reduce the risk of lower limb amputation up to 85 percent and lowers the risk of hospitalization by 24 percent.
The keys to amputation prevention are early recognition and regular foot screenings performed by a podiatrist. Assessments must be conducted for all patients even if no complications are present.
I qualified as a podiatrist from the University of Johannesburg (Bachelors of Technology in Podiatry 2013). I started my own private practice within a multi-disciplinary medical centre in the Vaal.
Furthermore I served as a locum at the University of Johannesburg, where I also gained managerial experience whilst supervising trainee podiatrists at various State hospitals. In addition, I have worked at different CDE Centres in the Vaal region and closely with various specialists (vascular and orthopaedic surgeons) which allowed me to expand my knowledge on diabetes and diabetic foot and wound care management.
Practicing as an athlete consultant for Puma – I have a keen interest in sports, and regularly provide podiatric services, education and assistance to sportsmen of all ages, from novice to professional.
I am a member of the Podiatry Association of South African (PASA), registered with the Health Professionals Council of South Africa (HPCSA No: CH0005070) and The Board of Health Care Funders of South Africa (PR No: 0516635)

Being a diabetic patient with our CDE, your treatment plan would include an informative discussion outlining the common complications and diabetic foot care education. The consultation is both educational and interactive and based purely on the individuals risk category.
Your consultation would be a holistic assessment which would include: orthopaedic, dermatological, neurological and vascular assessments using various tools including a dopplex ultrasound.
I would certainly encourage regular visits (minimum once annually depending on your risk category) to your podiatrist. We at the CDE strongly believe that working as an effective team would result in a healthy diabetic with minimal complications.
So why not take a step closer to healthy feet?
